Following the success of the first Awakening Bangkok in 2018, with more than 75,000 visitors and hundreds of thousands shared posts on social media throughout the 10-day event that shed new light on the nostalgic neighborhood of Charoenkrung in Bang Rak district, Time Out Bangkok teams up with Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) and Lhong 1919 to bring back the sensational experiences to make Charoenkrung a world class tourism destination where cultural charms from the previous generations are still revered and appreciated in contemporary context.
For the second edition of Awakening Bangkok, the organizer is all geared up to brighten Charoenkrung area with almost double the sensation. The 2019 edition of the festival is revisiting last year’s locations at some of Bangkok’s iconic landmarks such as the Grand Postal Building, former Thai Marine Police lodging, Haroon Mosque community, Warehouse 30 and Prince Theater Heritage Stay Hotel. New locations include Si Phraya Pier, Rong Kueak Shrine, Talad Noi community and Lhong 1919. The event is expected to draw 10 percent more of Thai and international visitors than last year.
Besides the lighting extravagance that will redefine the nostalgic charm of Charoenkrung district, Awakening Bangkok also aims to nurture the Thai art community by offering platforms for both aspiring and established Thai artists, as well as art students of various disciplines, to showcase their works to the public and spark the exchange of ideas and inspiration among themselves, and the string of international artists that will also participate in the event.
Organizing of events and activities for urbanites has always been one of the main policies at Time Out Bangkok, the same as other editions of Time Out around the globe. Time Out strives to present new perspective on urban living and cosmopolitan lifestyle with not only quality contents in print, online and social media but also with activities, events, seminars, travels and parties that add value to the city and enhance urbane lifestyle with new and different experiences.
Awakening Bangkok 2019 is from November 15-24, 2019 across Bang Rak-Charoenkrung.
